There’s just something magical about a big, festive brunch. The kind where you can sample a little bit of everything, indulging in all the treats you wouldn’t normally make on a regular morning.
As much as I’m an eggs-for-breakfast kind of person, I can’t resist adding a touch of sweetness to my plate. And this baked French toast strikes the perfect balance—decadent enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, yet simple enough to whip up for a crowd.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf French Bread cut into 1 inch slices
- 2/3 cup light brown sugar packed
- 1/2 cup salted butter melted
- 6 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, and vanilla. Mix well, then spread evenly in a greased 15x10x1 inch baking pan. Set aside.
- In a shallow pan (I used 9×13 inch) combine the eggs and milk. Whisk well, then add the bread and soak for 1-2 minutes, flipping once.
- Place the bread over the brown sugar mixture. Bake, uncovered, at 350°F for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve brown sugar side up. Dust with powdered sugar and top with fresh fruit as desired.
